Western show thrills the DSAG Annual Congress 2026 in Cologne!
Cowboys, cowgirls, captivating dances and spectacular artistry: Once again this year, we were commissioned by JOKE Event AG to produce a varied show programme for the evening event of the DSAG Annual Congress, organised by the German-speaking SAP User Group. Inspired by the event motto “Claim Your Ground”, we thrilled more than 5,000 guests with a high-energy production themed around the “Wild West”.
A richly detailed saloon set, signature cowboy costumes and a specially tailored musical concept take the guests on a journey between nostalgic Western flair and modern live performance.
Welcome to the Wild West!
Even before the actual show begins, the guests are immersed in the atmosphere of the Wild West. At a characterful old piano, a pianist and a singer set the mood for the evening. Familiar country and western sounds fill the room and bring the stage with its authentically designed saloon set to life.
But the peaceful mood doesn’t last long. Two quarrelsome cowboys enter the scene and cause the first stir with their playful dispute. When the rest of the cowboys and cowgirls finally take over the stage, the show really picks up speed.
To the legendary Bonanza theme tune, a high-energy group choreography unfolds. Dynamic dance steps, lively couple formations and the interplay of the performers turn the saloon into a vibrant setting full of joie de vivre.
Wild cowboys, flying hats and plenty of action
A mysterious guest enters the saloon: hat juggler John brings a playful lightness to the Western world with his extraordinary juggling act. With impressive skill, he sends red hats whirling through the air and humorously involves the curious cowgirls in his performance.
But things in the Wild West aren’t always peaceful. When one of the cowboys snatches a hat, a turbulent quarrel breaks out. Two stuntmen chase each other wildly across the saloon, leap across the stage and really let rip in a staged brawl. Even a sugar glass bottle comes into play and shatters spectacularly during the scene.
Then another cowboy takes command: with a cracking whip and a spinning lasso, he impressively demonstrates his skills. Precision, speed and acrobatic tricking elements merge into a fast-paced performance that perfects the Western feeling.
Between dance, rhythm and floating elegance
The production thrives on constantly changing moods. Spirited boogie and swing choreographies are followed by rhythmic dance passages in which cowboys and cowgirls bring the entire saloon to life with stomping steps, clapping and sweeping movements.
But then the atmosphere changes. The dynamism gives way to a calm, almost magical moment.
At its centre is a magnificent chandelier that suddenly transforms into an extraordinary aerial acrobatics prop. High above the stage, an artist presents a fascinating display of strength, body control and elegance. Seemingly weightless, she moves on the floating object, creating a striking contrast to the boisterous goings-on of the Wild West.
A poetic highlight that underlines the versatility of the production and transports the audience to a completely different world for a moment.
A finale full of Western energy
After this atmospheric moment, it is time to join forces once more. To the rousing sounds of Cotton Eye Joe, all the performers return to the stage and turn the saloon into one big Western dance floor.
In a fast-paced mix of line dance, Western choreography and acrobatic solo acts, the artists once again show the full range of the show. Flying hats, spinning lassos, acrobatic tricks and perfectly coordinated dance formations make for a high-energy finale.
A joint hat throw brings the production to its grand finale.
The audience becomes part of the Wild West
But the evening isn’t over yet! Saloon bartender and cowboy Thomas steps out from the set and invites the guests to become part of the Western show themselves.
Together with the performers, the audience learns a line dance choreography step by step. What starts with individual moves develops into a joint dance to Cotton Eye Joe.
And so a show to watch becomes an experience to join in: for a moment, artists and guests share the same stage and bring the Wild West to life together.
A show production full of humour, passion and spectacular moments that demonstrates how impressively dance, artistry, music and a continuous storyline can be combined into an unforgettable live experience.
